Coaching New Zealand weightlifting team to success at Commonwealth Championships
An experienced figure in sport in New Zealand, alum Hugh Lawrence (Physical Education with Biology Certificate in Education, 1972) recently returned from a successful trip to Samoa, where he served as one of the coaches for the New Zealand Olympic Weightlifting Team at the Oceania Championships and Universal Cup. Having to deal with extremely hot temperatures, the team delivered six medal performance and Commonwealth Games qualifying totals.

Recent graduate Henry Brogan (Business, Economics and Finance BSc, 2025) co-founded BidScript in October 2023 with childhood friend Tyler McCarthy. The startup has now secured over $1 million in pre-seed funding.
