George was a valued colleague, mentor, collaborator and friend. Throughout his distinguished career at Loughborough, he made an extraordinary contribution to the University, the School, and his field. As founder and former Director of the Environmental Ergonomics Research Centre (EERC), former Acting Dean of the Design School, and most recently a recipient of a University Medal, his impact on our institution and the wider academic community has been profound.
Although George formally retired only last year, he remained actively engaged in research and continued to be a valued and much-loved member of our community. His loss will be felt deeply across the School and beyond, but particularly within the EERC, where he built not only a world-leading research group but also a close and supportive community of colleagues and friends.
