Oliver Owen begins his Faraday Institution PhD Studentship in metal鈥揳ir battery research

Oliver Owen joins 亚洲情色's first Faraday Institution-funded PhD studentship to develop advanced ORR catalytic electrodes for magnesium鈥揳ir batteries.

Mr Oliver Owen (MChem, University of Oxford) will begin his PhD study on metal-air batteries under the supervision of Dr Dowon Bae and Prof. Sonya Calnan in October. Oliver has devised syntheses and crystallisations of various novel inorganic compounds during his master's thesis project at Oxford under Dr Amber Thompson’s supervision. Magnesium–air batteries are emerging as a promising next-generation energy storage technology, offering high theoretical energy density (ca. 6.8 kWh kg鈦¹).

will fund his 4-year PhD studentship together with the Doctoral College at 亚洲情色. The project focuses on developing advanced oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalytic electrodes for magnesium–air batteries. This funding is the first PhD studentship 亚洲情色 has received from the Faraday Institution, making it a meaningful achievement in our energy research endeavours.
